How do I claim my podcast in Fountain?
- Download the Fountain app on iOS or Android
- Create a Fountain account or skip (you can also skip this step and do it later)
- Search for your show in "Podcasts"
- Press the Lightning icon on your show/episode page and press "Claim podcast"
- Enter the email address in the RSS feed for your podcast (read below for instructions on this).
Once you've added the correct email, press "Submit"
- Open the email we sent you and click the link to verify that you are an administrator of this email account
- Once you have verified your email address you will have a value block added to your RSS feed and you can start receiving transactions
How can I check the email in my public RSS feed?
- Visit podcastindex.org
- Search for your podcast
- Click on the RSS icon
- Search "@" and you should be able to locate the email address
- You can update the email in your public RSS feed through your hosting platform
How will I know the claim process was successful?
Once you have verified the email address, you will see your podcast in your Wallet. Click through and you will also see that the Lightning icon on your show description page has turned yellow, indicating that you can receive payments. You can also search for your show on
podcastindex.org and look for Value for Value via Lightning on your show page
If I already have a value block, how can I switch to the Fountain Podcaster Wallet?
We partner with Podcast Index to provide your podcaster wallet. If you have an existing value block we can’t override it so before setting up on Fountain you need to remove your value block. To remove an existing value block in your podcast's RSS feed, go to
podcasterwallet.com and follow the instructions. Once this has been done, you will be able to create a new value block for your podcast via the Fountain app by following the claim process
Can I receive transactions from all podcast apps supporting Value for Value?
Claiming your podcast in Fountain and creating a Podcaster Wallet automatically enables payments from all podcast app that support Value for Value. This is because we add a 1% split to your show to read incoming payments from other apps. Visit newpodcastapps.com and filter by "value" for information on these apps.
How do I split earnings with other people?
- On any of your claimed shows or any individual episode, press the Lightning icon
- Press Splits in the bottom panel and then press Manage Show Splits
- Edit your splits by pressing the Pencil icon
- You can search for other Fountain users and add them as a split
- You can also add a Lightning Node Pubkey
- Change the split value by dragging the slider
- Press Update Show Splits when you're ready
Is Fountain Podcaster Wallet free to use?
Creating a Fountain Podcaster Wallet is completely free although there is a 5% fee applied every time you withdraw funds. 1% of every transaction listeners make to podcasters goes to Podcast Index. Fountain also apply a 5% fee to all transactions made to podcasters, unless they are paying $2.99 per month for Fountain Premium.
How do I withdraw funds from my wallet?
First you will need a Bitcoin Lightning Wallet to send your sats too. There are many different wallets you can get for free on the app stores. You can use BlueWallet, Muun and Wallet of Satoshi in most countries around the world.
- Press the three-dot menu on your Podcaster Wallet and press Withdraw from Wallet
- Choose the number of satoshis you would like to withdraw and copy the LNURL address
- Open your Bitcoin Lightning wallet to create an invoice and receive funds from your Podcaster Wallet.
How many podcasts can I claim in Fountain?
If you host multiple shows or you're setting up an entire podcast network there's good news - there is no limit to how many shows you can claim.
Can I run my own node using the Fountain Podcaster Wallet?
No. We are exploring a non-custodial wallet option for future release though. To get further updates on this, follow us on Twitter.
Can I export historical transaction data for tax purposes?
This feature is not currently available. If you require a record of all your earnings, please email us at hello@fountain.fm and we can provide this.
